My momma always said my passage though this world, "has already been bought and paid for." Momma was right. Many a person has indeed laid down their blood, sweat, tears, body and spirit for me - mixie brown prep-school educated woman who has the privilege to occasionally snowboard - to become an honest to goodness educator (I got my papers n'everything). I am acutely aware of how my history has situated me to be where I am as a generic public school teacher in the infancy of my career - utterly exhausted.
Oh ma petit professeur! How is this possible? So young? So jaded? So tired? What has happened to cause this to be so?
Fair readers, I submit for your musing the most severe case of divestment caused by historical amnesia... otherwise known as the contemporary urban school district... otherwise known as a grand cluster f...udge.
